ABOUT
Ryan Gillmor has cut a dynamic path across the music business universe. Primarily known as a first-call vocal producer/editor/arranger/studio-singer for the biggest names in film & television, Gillmor is also an accomplished songwriter, producer and performer.
In just over a decade since Gillmor left his hometown with not much more than his guitar and a suitcase full of self-released CDs, this young industry veteran has already amassed an entire career’s worth of wide-ranging professional credits. From his extensive vocal work on the generation-defining TV show “Glee” (seasons 2-final) and many other shows, to writing/producing for other artists, all the while making records and rocking stages all over the world as a member of alternative rock icons Lit. He is a regular collaborator with industry giants such as Adam Anders (Perfect Harmony, Glee, Kalley’s Mashup, etc); Mike Wofford/Epidemic Sound; Tim Davis (Disney, Superbowl, The Oscars, etc.)
Though he has spent much of the past several years moonlighting with Lit, Gillmor is now returning his full focus to his vocal work; specializing in vocal production/editing for film/television, session singer reels, and recording artists.
In 2008 Gillmor’s song, “Hey” was chosen by the Farrelly Brothers (There’s Something About Mary/Dumb and Dumber) as the theme song for their FOX Network sitcom, “Unhitched”. Soon after, another Gillmor song, “In This Moment” was performed by David Archuletta on the “American Idol” Season 7 finale, selling 200,000+ downloads in less than a week. A string of hits followed with credits on records by Neon Trees, Afrojack, Walk The Moon, Pepper, OAR, American Idol’s Kris Allen, The Voice’s Vicci Martinez, and Hannah Montana’s Mitchel Musso. Many of these were made working with longtime Gillmor collaborator, producer Tim Pagnotta (Blink 182, IDK How…, etc), most recently with artists such as The Regrettes, and Lights.
Gillmor was scouted and signed to Liberal Arts/Sony Music Publishing by industry mogul and current Arista Records President/CEO David Massey in early 2009; a relationship that continues to this day.
Despite all of his success behind the scenes, Ryan began to miss the stage, so in 2010 he accepted a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join the band Lit as guitarist/keyboardist/backing vocalist. He was featured prominently on their album, “A View From The Bottom” earning credits as composer, guitarist, additional production/engineering, and digital editor; working alongside legendary producer Butch Walker (Fall Out Boy, Green Day, Pink, Weezer, etc). 2018 brought about the release of Lit’s 6th studio album, “These Are the Days”, for which Gillmor earned credits as a performer, writer, producer and engineer.
The phone kept ringing and before long, Gillmor was back alongside fellow Glee alum Adam Anders, producing, engineering and editing vocals for “The Passion: New Orleans”, a live Fox Television event, and the remake of “Dirty Dancing” for ABC. Anders also utilized Ryan’s vocal editing skills on his Argentine musical, “Kally’s Mashup” for Nickelodeon Latin America. In 2019, Gillmor worked with Anders yet again on NBC primetime comedy, “Perfect Harmony” as vocal producer, engineer and editor.
Between the diverse show business relationships Gillmor has cultivated over the years, and the new ones he continues to make, 2021 is on deck to be his busiest year yet. It looks like Gillmor’s journey may only just be getting started!
